A Must Read! February 16, 2008 I found "Death by Meeting" an excellent read. In this leadership fable, Patrick Lencioni delivers the message of the importance of meetings to a company's success. Lencioni does it in such a way that it's like you're reading a novel. I found this book to be a real page-turner and an eye-opener for how effectively run meetings and different types of meetings can transform a company.
Death by meeting in a nutshell January 20, 2008 Like Lencioni's other books in the series, for a time poor executive, this is a quick 'heads up' on issues and processes to keep in mind. When putting an agenda together for an important meeting, a quick scan of this book the night before is a great help.
OK, nothing earth-shattering December 17, 2007 I really like the way that a fictional story was used to drive home the main point, but have to admit that I was expecting more. The main concept could probably be described in depth within about 3 or 4 pages of text (max).
Excellent - Insightful November 8, 2007 This is an awesome book on how to run meetings. I work as a professional speaker and consultant, so I run and contribute to a lot of meetings. In Death by Meeting you'll learn why so many meetings are doomed to fail - trying to make decisions, review strategy, and plan the future all at once - and how to succeed by focusing on what you really need to do at the time and sticking to it until you're finished.
The concept is simple, but so profoundly useful - and the author does a masterful job of telling it as a fable so that you learn how to keep people on track and deal with distractions as you read- Brilliant!!!

My reason for purchasing this book was a weekly unfulfilling church staff meeting. I knew that there was potential for so much more, but I didn't know how to reach that next level. I heard this book was good, but when I first picked it up to read my goal was to fall asleep as soon as possible...2 1/2 hours later I had to set it down-not because I wanted to but because I had to get up early the next morning. Lencioni's style of instruction is pleasantly refreshing. Not only does Lencioni present his ideas and rationale, but he does so in such a way that you can see how it might work in real life. This is not, however, a comprehensive source--you will learn what is supposed to happen, but you'll have to practice how to do so yourself (Lencioni says the same). I recommend this book as a way to grasp the concept of organizational meetings.
